Sustainable events in Valencia

European Green Capital 2024

Award and responsibility

A strong focus of the Green Capital award is on environmental priorities such as urban mobility, air and water quality, with a particular emphasis on the circular economy. Valencia has achieved a lot and is still in the process of becoming even more sustainable.

Event & tourism are not industries that are primarily known for their sustainability.

It starts with respect, reflection and the right decisions. Incentive trips and events in Valencia can then also meet the city's sustainability concept at eye level.

Sustainable event management seems to be quite simple.

But are there really completely sustainable events? There are many influencing factors that affect the event industry in general and sustainability at events in particular. Time as an influencing factor: Sustainability in event management requires more time than conventional approaches. More time or lead time for planning, more time for the procurement or selection of suppliers and service providers and more time for the actual implementation before, during and after the event. Scaling as an influencing factor: Events are planned for a more or less large number of visitors, guests, spectators, customers, employees or participants. The decisive question for every event is: How many participants are we planning the event for? Because it makes a difference whether you have 10 guests in a workshop, 100 guests celebrating a party or whether you invite 1,000 guests to a congress center. Influencing factor: money: Events are not cheap. This pressure can mean that there is no budget available for sustainable, but sometimes more expensive measures in the short term.

Open and honest - we have to do this together

Even though sustainable event management is important, we work every day to give our best in this sense. Do we achieve 100% of our goals? Frankly, no. That's why we don't hang any certificates on ourselves that we haven't yet fully earned. We do not pretend to be the moralists of the event industry, but rely on your understanding, your support and your will to create sustainable events that we are happy to implement for you in Valencia.
